Our relationship with music seems to sit differently in our memory and it often connects us to feelings and memories. Musical experiences can help a person with dementia to feel 'at home' in themselves. At Music Groups this supports a generally relaxed social opportunity. People who are experiencing the symptoms of dementia can mix and mingle in a lighthearted way, and enjoy the connection that music provides.
Music Group meets every Wednesday 10am to midday at Dementia Waikato in Rifle Range Road. It is open to clients and their care partners, Where a person with dementia is not physically fit, or may be unsafe in any way we ask that the care partner always remains with him/her.
- No musical ability needed – just come and enjoy this time with us.
- Morning tea is included.
- Please wear comfortable clothes and “safe” shoes.
